Samah Ali
is a film and television programmer based in New York City.
Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Samah developed her programming skills working at Academy Award qualifying festivals and now curates for airlines around the world as the Video Programming Manager at Stellar Entertainment.

Samah has worked in the entertainment industry for over 14 years. She founded Sisterhood Media, a company distributing short films on their native platform Sisterhood Media TV. After five years of business, the company shut down and left its legacy as a streamer focused on racialized audiences, a first of its kind in Canadian streaming history. Samah cut her teeth curating selections at DOC NYC, San Francisco International Film Festival, Hot Docs Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Nantucket Film Festival, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Future of Film Showcase, Black Femme Supremacy Film Festival, and Toronto International Film Festival. She hosted The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s Cinema Reignited podcast and also served as a Black Screen Office Board Member.

Samah has a Bachelor of Honours in Women’s Studies & Feminist Research from Western University and a Masters of Arts in Screen Studies from the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema at Brooklyn College - City University of New York.
